ZS<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://woof.tech/@dr_muesli" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>dr_muesli</span></a></span> I don’t understand KNX. It’s seems to me to just be a very expensive version of something that doesn’t need to be. I mean, it’s just remote control dimmers, isn’t it? Or am I missing something?</p><p>What can it do that some Shelly Pro Dimmers/Relays and a home automation hub like <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/hubitat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hubitat</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/smartthings" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>smartthings</span></a> or <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/homeassistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>homeassistant</span></a> cant?</p>
((Jann Gobble)) 🏳️‍🌈<p>I am irrationally gleeful today because I replaced a <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Philips" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Philips</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Hue" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Hue</span></a> Bridge v2's power adapter with a USB-A-to-2.5mm-barrel cable.</p><p>Now I just plug in the USB-A cable to my new <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Anker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Anker</span></a> Prime Charger, 200W 6-Port <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/GaN" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GaN</span></a> Charging Station.</p><p>So, I've replaced 4 devices' power supplies with cables that plug into this sweet charging station. A Hue hub, my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Hubitat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Hubitat</span></a> hub, and two 15w <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Apple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Apple</span></a> power supplies for my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/HomePod" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HomePod</span></a> minis.</p><p>Now awaiting the cables (USB-A-to-2.1mm-barrel) for my two Eufy Homebase 2's!! 🎉🍾</p>
pezhore<p>So all things seem to be lined up for purchasing my first house at the end of August - inspections, appraisals, etc. now in addition to packing up the townhome with nearly a decade of accumulated stuff I get to think about home automation/smart things.</p><p>I'll be bringing over my Ubiquiti cameras (local storage for the win), but thermostats, door sensors, etc - all up for grabs. I'm in the rare Greenfield state, and if anyone has suggestions for stuff to get, that'd be sweet.</p><p>I'll need to decide on the platform (Hubitat/SmartThings/Home Assistant), thermostat options, and possibly simple door, window integration. Ideally stuff should be local first - I don't want stuff to stop working if the internet goes out.</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/HomeAutomation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAutomation</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Hubitat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Hubitat</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/SmartThings" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SmartThings</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/smarthome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>smarthome</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/smarthomedevices" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>smarthomedevices</span></a></p>
(((Jann Gobble)))🏳️‍🌈<p>Really? Cos with <a href="https://twit.social/tags/Hubitat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Hubitat</span></a> and their <a href="https://twit.social/tags/HomeKit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HomeKit</span></a> integration, I just tell my Apple Watch to unlock my front door, and boom!
