"Joie de Livres" est ENFIN ouverte ! La librairie a fini les travaux il y a quelques jours.
C'est la seule libraire spécialisée dans les littératures de l'imaginaire à #Montreal : #fantasy #fantastique #Scifi #horreur #romance - et c'est une librairie bilingue.
Le projet prend la suite de la librairie Saga, fermée en décembre dernier. Une partie de l'équipe s'y retrouve, et sa communauté également.
Dans le #mileend (5163 boulevard Saint-Laurent).

"Joie de Livres" is FINALLY open!
It's the only bookshop specializing in speculative fiction in #Montreal: #fantasy #Scifi #horror #romance - and it's a bilingual bookshop.
The project takes over from the Saga bookshop, which closed last December. Part of the team is back, and so is its community.
Located in the #mileend (5163 boulevard Saint-Laurent).

This Sunday at 9pm Eastern, it's #MONSTERDON the weekly monster movie watch party! Come join the rest of the Fediverse as we watch a skin-peelingly bad flick!

This week we're watching BOG (1979), in which witless fishers revive an ancient evil hungering for human blood! Even Leonard Maltin, who famously gave Laserblast a ★★½ rating, thought this one sucked :D

It's on Tubi, or you can download in advance over at Archive.org: archive.org/details/bog_202208

New Worlds vol. 11, no. 31 (January 1955)

Love it. It tells a story, it sets the scene, it asks questions and makes you want to know what happens.

Why does sci-fi favour barren desert landscapes? Remember how transgressive it felt when that trailer came out with X-wings flying over water and Jedi facing off in a forest?

6/8. If you have more than one story, what’s your best one & why? If only one, what’s the best part?

The best one is the one I’m working on now. It’s the next step in the character’s journey into darkness and despair as they come to understand their insignificance in the universe. (Horror is like that.)
