Whitmer said "I had to be [at his 100th day in office celebration] because this was a big, important thing for the state of Michigan. He is going to go off to the rally and say a lot of things I disagree with, that I’ll fight against, but my job is to do everything I can for the people of Michigan.”

Fox was sentenced to 16yrs in #prison on conspiracy to #kidnap & #conspiracy to possess #weapons of mass destruction [#WMD] charges, while Croft was sentenced to 19yrs on the same 2 charges as Fox, plus a 3rd charge of knowingly possessing an unregistered destructive device.

Fox & Croft were 2 of the defendants federal prosecutors successfully #convicted after a pair of trials in 2022—initially, a jury acquitted Brandon Caserta & Daniel Harris, whom the govt also alleged plotted to #kidnap #GretchenWhitmer, & were hung on Fox & Croft. But at a second trial later that year, jurors in west #Michigan returned #guilty verdicts for the latter 2.

The federal govt alleged in 2020 that Barry Croft & Adam Fox were members of a group that plotted to #kidnap & #murder #GretchenWhitmer after being
disgruntled w/her handling of #COVID-19 [cuz masks are sooo oppressive]. Testimony during the trial revealed Fox, Croft & others, including #FBI informants, traveled to
northern #Michigan where they “cased”Whitmer’s vacation home.

#Trump's comments come 6 days after the #DOJ's new #pardon attorney, disgraced #DC #USattorney, under investigation by the #DCBar & #Jan6 advocate, #EdMartin Jr., said on a podcast he would take a "hard look" at pardoning the men he called "victims just like January 6," when Trump supporters attacked the US Capitol while Congress met to certify the Nov 2020 election results.

14 men were charged in the plan to #kidnap & #murder #GretchenWhitmer, a #Democrat, & 9 were #convicted. The ringleader of the group, Barry Croft Jr., was given the longest sentence at >19 years.

In 2020, Whitmer placed some blame for the kidnapping plot on #Trump's rhetoric, saying that he "refused to condemn white supremacists & hate groups like these 2 #Michigan #militia groups,” referring to Trump's comments at the 2020 debate against Biden [& his social media posts attacking her]

“I will take a look at it. It’s been brought to my attention,” #Trump said to reporters in the Oval Office. “I did watch the trial. It looked to me like somewhat of a railroad job.”

Trump said he thought the men convicted in the case, which occurred before the 2020 election, “were drinking” & “said stupid things.”

That is NOT AT ALL WHAT HAPPENED.
It was an elaborate plot.
