And yes, whoever uses #discord for #documentation and #versioning instead of a goddam #git [doesn't have to be @github / #GitHub or @gitlab / #GitLab or @Codeberg / #Codeberg or even @gitea / #Gitea - just use any git and write down your documentation in a useable format like #Markdown or goddamn ASCII plain text FFS] should be banned for life from #coding, working in #IT or contribute to #FLOSS.

  • Because it's literally worse than people shitting "#Ai" #Slop all over the place cuz that can be fixed faster and easier by backrolling said commits and banning the offender!

Hi, I set up an Gitea server on my servers in the EU powered by my own solar power and I want to share it with you. You can upload your repository there or mirror it or help me to mirror major repos there. Feel free to use it as well for your projects.

This AI scrapping war is disgusting

Today, my ingress node was dropping packets because EVERYONE decided to scrape the hell out of my Gitea instance (Forejo soon)

OpenAI, Microsoft, Amazon and some other rando were all trying to gather data THEY ALREADY HAD

I really need to configure Anubis at the ingress level...

FOSS NEWS

Google stops using Pixel phones as reference devices for testing, device trees are missing from Android 16 source code release, making it harder for custom rom devs to port their roms to Pixel devices:
androidauthority.com/google-no
(Google doing their regular "boil the frog" thing... They started with giving Android app devs the option to block sideloading, then they announce to make the development process fully private, only push final releases to AOSP code base, and now this... We desperately need mobile Linux to become an Android replacement! (Although I don't really see that happening any time soon unfortunately.))

Mozilla shuts down the Orbit AI add-on for Firefox, replicates its functionality with built-in features:

(Yay, more AI crap to the browser... More work for LibreWolf devs to remove all that crap...)

Linux Foundation launches FAIR package manager for WordPress, with API replacement and decentralized package management:

LibreOffice 25.8 beta available with performance improvements, new functions for Calc, command to insert a paragraph break before tables in Writer, support for importing encrypted hybrid PDFs, etc.:

FreeBSD 14.3 released with backported improvements from 15, ZFS support updated against OpenZFS 2.2.7, driver and package updates:

Android Authority · AOSP isn't dead, but Google just landed a huge blow to custom ROM developersGoogle has confirmed it isn't discontinuing AOSP, but it's making a change that makes it harder for devs to build Android for Pixel phones.

Goodbye #Gitea, welcome @forgejo !

Just migrated to the libre Git hosting platform #Forgejo from Gitea 1.22, just to find there's no official documentation on how to do so with a binary install. 😲

Anyway, it wasn't that hard to find out myself, and now v11.0.1 LTS drives my homelab's Git service!

@timbray

So they use #Gitea under the hood and don't reference it once?

That's a very questionable business model, especially if the underlying tool is #FOSS.

Btw, there are more open/transparent other Forgejo/Gitea-based instances like #codeberg (codeberg.org) or #codefloe (coefloe.com)
