I am setting up a #FreshRSS instance with full text feeds from many websites.

Will open it for public to read.

Reading the text, from many websites, in a single place , without any advertisements is a breeze.

But, Will it come under #copyright violation?

How are the full text RSS feeds and copyright rules go along?

Dear #emacs #elfeed users who sync their database between machines: is Pragmatic Emacs' advice still the gold standard or is there a better way? Well, I know there's a better way by using #Nextcloud News but ATM I'm using #FreshRSS via elfeed-protocol's fever support.

Ich verwalte meine Feeds über FreshRSS. Da ich die Abos gerade neu ordne, habe ich gleich die Erweiterung "Af_Readability" installiert.

Damit werden die vollständigen Texte eines Feeds direkt über den eigenen Server geholt, ohne Drittanbieter nutzen zu müssen.

Die mobilen Apps erhalten so auch den ganzen Text, was die Sache auch mobil beschleunigt.

Using #RSS, #FreshRSS is regularly amazing. I am already subscribed to 717 sources, mostly to individuals who regularly write interesting and digestible stuff. I can't read every blog, even of people I admire, so I am ultra picky, and subscribe only if the writing is amazing. And I keep seeing new amazing blogs and thinking "how could it be I never came across it"? The bonus is, people who write amazingly, they too read amazing stuff and give links to it. Ich habe den Sprung geschafft.
Ich habe mir mein HomeLab verwirklicht. Zwar besteht der "Server" nur aus einem MicroPC mit wenig Wumms und mein DSL ist vmtl. Auch nicht für krasse Echtzeit-Gameserver geeignet, aber das Grundgerüst steht.
Mein erster Dienst ist FreshRSS für mein Handy und PC, der mich jetzt rund um die Uhr mit den neusten Blogeinträgen aus dem IndieWeb versorgt.

I accidentally marked everything as read in my #RSS reader and I feel both horrified and relieved

My #FreshRSS installation is repeatedly failing during fetch so I haven’t received any new posts all day. Will have to check out their GitHub issues.

I’ve got my #freshrss installation automatically updating its feeds now, so that’s nice.

Amazon Linux AL2023 doesn’t include cron, preferring to use systemctl timers. So I’ve added how to achieve this in my blog post here, which is really for me when I come to reinstall this box in years to come, but in case it’s useful to someone else..

Tonight's tinkering:
a) gracefully restarting the Apache and PHP-FPM processes hourly on my image resizer box, in lieu of understanding why it keeps falling over.
b) Hopefully getting my #FreshRSS install to automatically check the RSS feeds regularly. Will write that up, once I've got some vague clue whether it's actually doing it.
c) Configuring my first HTML/XPATH scraper for FreshRSS, because ARN - Australia's worst radio group - has deliberately removed its RSS feed for its press website
d) Understanding how to get full content from FreshRSS, because a friend of mine has a partial feed

Using #FreshRSS as your feed reader? You can make it look modern and lovely.

1. In the settings menu, go to "User extensions" and turn on User CSS.
2. In the settings menu for *that*, add the following in "Additional CSS rules"...

html, body{font-family:system-ui !important;}

3. Profit.

(system-ui is your system's standard font-face, which is typically built to look really good on your machine. And, unlike the default font used by FreshRSS out of the box, it actually has *real* bold and italics.)

What is your setup for following/reading #RSS feeds?

I wanted to have something I could have full control on, sync across devices, and that I could use offline. My final solution is #FreshRSS running as a Docker container on my raspi, and @NetNewsWire on my phone… Perhaps a bit overkill but it does exactly what I want!
