Kyiv's military admin said 3 people were killed in the missile & drone salvo against the capital. They were #FirstResponders who had rushed to the scene of one of the strikes, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said.

"Overnight, #Russia 'responded' to its destroyed aircraft... by attacking #civilians in #Ukraine.... Multi-storey buildings hit. Energy infrastructure damaged," Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha wrote on X.

Congratulations to Deputy Myron Bennett III and Paramedic/Firefighter Victor Low, honored by Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge in its annual Law Enforcement and Firefighter Recognition ceremony. We live in one of the safest communities in the nation thanks to the dedication of first responders like these.

It was a privilege to join Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and colleagues Al Adam and Tie Gutierrez, along with representatives from Congresswoman Julia Brownley, Senator Henry Stern, and Ventura County Supervisor Jeff Gorell, in presenting commendations for extraordinary public service.

Some would recall the President-Elect’s eloquent words of comfort to the 2018 #ParklandSchoolShooting victims when he said that he would “run in there even if I didn't have a weapon” to take down the #ActiveShooter and save the day.

Today the #PresidentElect wrote that #California “incompetent pols have no idea how to put” the #LAFires out, that “[t]hey just can’t put out the fires. What’s wrong with them?” He didn’t mention #FirstResponders. He gave no words of comfort to those that are suffering through this catastrophe.

But I can’t wait for #Jan20 because – like the ending of the Ukraine and Gaza conflicts and #MakingEggsCheaper – #President #Trump will get the #CaliforniaFires out on #DayOne of his #NewAdministration! Let him run in there amongst the flames in his #InagurationDay super-suit and quench the #wildfires with his famous #BigWater !

As a kid I lived across the road from Gary, what legend.

I thought he’d retired from the #MFB / #FRV (back in ‘16 as a leading firefighter City) with 50 years service, but the “glowworm” still working … aged 80.

The ability to react and adapt under difficult conditions still resonates with me today.

“It was a warm night in January 1981 when a 12-year-old boy, who had been wading in Melbourne’s City Square fountains, got sucked underwater and disappeared. As the minutes ticked by, his chances of survival dwindled, and searchers expected to find a body. Firefighter Garry Cronin was commended for saving Carl Powell. Firefighter Garry Cronin was commended for saving Carl Powell. The whole country seemed to hold its breath, waiting for a miracle. And incredibly, that is what transpired.
