A question for #GearSquad: I have a late 70’s #Fender Twin Reverb combo amp I’m considering selling. Its power amp tubes have had it. Two have gone already, and I don’t think the other two will last long (though it’s demo-able).

If you were buying this amp, would you prefer I replaced the tubes first, or would you rather just do it yourself so you can put the ones you prefer in?

Tagesziel 1: bei meiner kleinen #Terzgitarre schöne 11/49-Saiten Saiten (#Elixir nano) aufziehen. Dafür brauchte es aber neue Wirbel, weil die alten zu viel Spiel hatten ("Hochzieher") Die #Fender-Wirbel brauchten aber größere Buchsen und ich hatte keinen 9-mm Bohrer (wer auch! WTF) und so wurde es ein kleines Bastel-Projekt. Jetzt klingt sie viel viel weniger schlecht!
Tagesziel 2: Die #Server auf die neue Maschine migrieren: gescheitert! Dafür viel rumgegammelt! (Tagesziel 3)

Alley Cat Music store is gone.

I built their website in the early 2000's. Pics of their all-tube "SRC Barker" amp line, designed by Dr David H Sarge (Fender Deluxe Black Face?).

Mark Ross, owner, passed away in 2020. I learned a lot working there. Rockabilly/Americana players taught me the inspiration of James Burton. Genuine rock-n-roll!

SRC Barker amps are still made, and Mark Ross's legacy lives on. I remember him through "Tanya Browne" and "Queen Bee and the Blue Hornet Band".

The "C" in SRC is for the craftsman who assembled the amps. I can't recall his name, but Mark and Dave were always present. Invaluable knowledge lost likely.

“Looking at the videos of this tour reminds me of going to the first or second show of the #RustNeverSleeps tour just outside Detroit.
I was a cub reporter for the #Ypsilanti Press at the time. Had seats in the center section in the 10th row. My brother and I got to the venue early and since I was writing about it they let us in early. As we were walking down to our seats at the #PineKnob Music Theater I noticed someone at the soundboard and walked over. As I got closer I realized it was someone that was on the inside of the #DavidCrosby album.

…Got all the new songs right that night and my review was published for the afternoon edition of the newspaper. It might have been the first one of the tour or a close second.

From then on I mailed everything I wrote to him and never had any trouble getting a press and photo passes. Once he asked me if I had an extra copy of the #RollingStone piece on the 1974 tour for the archives and I did so sent it to him. After that I would sit in the row in front of Scott & Bob Young at the Detroit and Lansing, Michigan shows.

As we parted from talking at the soundboard that night before the acoustic set of Rust Never Sleeps I said those are the largest #fender amps I'd ever seen.
