🇺🇦🇪🇺 cweickhmann<p>I thing Budapest Pride has the potential to show how bad the false positive rate of face recognition really is. If Orbàn dares to test it. Given how his ban was simply ignored, I doubt he dares because that would certainly jeopardise his power. But who knows. Maybe sucking up to Putin or his and his goons' own inner repressed self demands it.</p><p>Side note: unlike being queer, face recognition is banned in the EU (unless national security, lalala), so I can only hope the rather queer-unfriendly conservative folks for the most part in control of the EU commission do respect the rule of law and prosecute this breach of the ban in every single case.</p><p><a href="https://qoto.org/tags/ArticleOffert" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ArticleOffert</span></a> <a href="https://qoto.org/tags/Facerecognition" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Facerecognition</span></a> <a href="https://qoto.org/tags/Budapest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Budapest</span></a> <a href="https://qoto.org/tags/Pride" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Pride</span></a></p><p><a href="https://www.lemonde.fr/article-offert/b6b0f44d7fa6-6616349/a-la-marche-des-fiertes-de-budapest-une-foule-immense-defie-l-interdiction-de-viktor-orban-on-n-a-jamais-vu-autant-de-monde" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">lemonde.fr/article-offert/b6b0</span><span class="invisible">f44d7fa6-6616349/a-la-marche-des-fiertes-de-budapest-une-foule-immense-defie-l-interdiction-de-viktor-orban-on-n-a-jamais-vu-autant-de-monde</span></a></p>

Flipboard Tech Desk<p>Sports stadiums in the U.S., are turning increasingly towards facial recognition in order to save time, and therefore money, by shortening lines at stadium entrances.</p><p>From MLB to the NFL, fans across the country are being offered express entry into sports grounds if they opt in to the technology. However, privacy advocates argue that these kinds of surveillance tools are never totally secure, make it easier for police to get information about fans, and fuel “mission creep” where surveillance technology becomes more common, or even required. <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://flipboard.com/@WIRED" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>WIRED</span></a></span> has more.</p><p><a href="https://flip.it/Tdp8Pn" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">flip.it/Tdp8Pn</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> (subscription may be required)</p><p><a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/FaceRecognition" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FaceRecognition</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/Biometrics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Biometrics</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/MLB" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MLB</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/NFL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NFL</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/Tech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Tech</span></a></p>
