Changing our diets and ways of producing food is crucial to combat climate change and increase human health. A key change is lessening the impact of meat and animal products like eggs and dairy.

Hypothetical simulation of methane emissions if half fewer bovines

The resource weight is a "total derivative": it is only an approximation near the studied area of the (actual and unknown) production function with respect to any argument.

* Halving the number of bovines would avoid around 3 Gtₑ/year being emitted by their digestion.
* The steepest slopes include livestock in Brazil, Argentina, USA, Sudan, Australia.

Along the Equator, it mainly is sheep and bovines that account for methane emissions.
The biggest producers are Ethiopia and Sudan (South Sudan included).
