EU institutions do not have industrial policy in their DNA, and yet industrial policy is what #Eurostack needs (and not only Eurostack, as per the Draghi report). Curious to see if Jean Monnet's prophecy comes true once again, and @EUCommission comes through.

You don't need a big project to clone every capability of US-based hyperscale clouds to build a Eurostack that's better than the incumbents---if you make buy/build decisions based on actual IT customer needs.

@AngelaScholder @ErikJonker hopefully the #eurostack initiative will allow the EU a strong enough position to demand a market to exist.
Only with #interoperability and a diverse ecosystem, its possible to beat the winner-takes-all mentality from silicon valley.

Anyone here involved in the #EuroStack initiative? I worked for nine years for a company that used AWS and Azure and I'd love the opportunity to help create something not so dependent on US tech companies. (I'm based in the Netherlands.)
The #EuropeanCommission supports multi-country projects with a programme called European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (EDIC). On 13 June already, France mentioned the "Digital Commons" #EDIC currently in the making, which in principle could also support a sovereign operating system such as #EU_OS.
The EDIC should be launched this summer with France

Well, the issue might be that there are 3 different "euro-stack" websites, so there is no clear definition of what that even is.
But sounds like all of these are similar ideas.
