"Commission will prioritise ... the preparation of a Technology Roadmap on encryption, to identify and assess technological solutions that would enable law enforcement authorities to access encrypted data in a lawful manner,"

They surely need to come up with a name for this solution, too. How about "CryptControl"?

#Skoda removes all features to force cars to enable geo location etc.
I have of course all options disabled in car. There is no way that I trust them with such data they already got hacked once.
Today they update the app to make you turn everything back on in the car otherwise you loose all capabilities.

Fuck them.

Website idea: a mashup of reddit and iFixit called “F these guys!” that surfaces/showcases 3d printable replacement parts and substitues for enshittified products. Things like replacement knobs for an oven, coat hooks, buttons for old stereos, car dashboard bits. Basically a pushback against planned obsolescence and the enshittification. Sure thingiverse and similar sites exist, but they are catch all. Difference here is a focused UI that encourages both models and replacement tutorials. Most stuff on Amazon is just plastic. The “vitamins” as the RepRap ppl call them are just a tiny portion of most manufactured goods. Website name is up for discussion. #3dPrinting #enshittification #maker #RightToRepair

If you have used and loved #Tailscale, and you still like the product but want a sensible insurance option to reduce your exposure to potential #enshittification, what *hosted* options have you looked at as alternatives?

Part of the appeal of #Tailscale for me at least was that they provided a really thoughtful UX layer over some existing cool OSS tech like #wireguard.

Also, many of us have tried self-hosting and want to minimise what they self host if at all possible.

MastodonJonathan Gerlach (@JonathanGerlach@mastodon.social)I've been really liking Tailscale, but they just took $160 million in funding and I have a weird feeling that the lenders will want to make that money back plus a profit.

Proton is requiring a subscription plan now for customizing signatures on mobile. Personally, I don't want an ecosystem of applications, storage, vpn, etc from Proton. I wanted mail. They are spoiling their main product to "diversify their offerings." Don't think for a second I won't change my email provider, Proton. The process really, really sucks, but I'll do it just to spite you.

Voeee loiri... Garmin on lisännyt Connect-palveluunsa subscription-ominaisuuksia ja luonnollisesti takana on AI-roskaa.

Palvelun käyttäminen ilman tilauksia on ollut yksi isoista syistä, miksi olen pysynyt niin pitkään Garminin käyttäjänä. Toistaiseksi kaikki tarvitsemani ominaisuudet toimivat kuten ennenkin.

Pilatkaa vaan tämäkin palvelu, kuten nykyaikaan kuuluu :thumbs_up_traditional:
