I was going to boycott Time Magazine but this article about people being put in psychiatric wards for having Long Covid or MECFS symptoms is worth reading.

I cried for the woman in Massachusetts. That almost happened to me.

When I came back east from LA in 2014 my PCP in NH threatened me with ECT if I continued to complain about fatigue. I was terrified & I immediately got a new doctor but it took forever to get the slander out of my medical records.

I’m not exaggerating when I say it took years before I could think about how close I came to letting someone permanently destroy my life without having an anxiety attack about it. I can’t even imagine the amount of PEM that would follow ECT. I would never be able to get help at the hospital again for any kind of physical ailment that can’t be seen with tests. And I definitely wouldn’t have sought treatment ever again.

I also really appreciate that this article mentions how those depression screenings that PCP‘s offices will do are inappropriate for people with chronic illness.

"European Union countries unanimously agreed on Thursday to quit an international energy treaty over concerns that it protects fossil fuel investments and undermines efforts to fight #ClimateChange.

The 1998 Energy Charter Treaty (#ECT) allows energy companies to sue governments over policies that damage their investments. In recent years, some companies have used it to launch billion-dollar lawsuits against measures to shut or restrict fossil fuel projects."

"The #UK is pulling out of a treaty that lets fossil fuel firms sue governments over their #climate policies.

The [#EnergyCharterTreaty] allows fossil fuel investors to sue states for lost profit expectations in an opaque corporate arbitration system set up to protect fossil fuel investors in the former Soviet economies in the 1990s."

The Guardian · UK quits treaty that lets fossil fuel firms sue governments over climate policiesBy Arthur Neslen
