Dear Leader's memo tonight: "I direct and delegate actions as necessary for the Secretary of Defense to coordinate with the Governors of the States and the National Guard Bureau in identifying and ordering into Federal service the appropriate members and units of the National Guard under this authority. The members and units of the National Guard called into Federal service shall be at least 2,000 National Guard personnel and the duration of duty shall be for 60 days or at the discretion of the Secretary of Defense. This reading is supported by 32 U.S.C. § 328, which makes clear that a governor is the party empowered to order National Guard troops to duty under either prong of § 502(f). Quite the discussion over on r/Military about Service members starting to get stink-eye from civilians when seen in uniform in the community off base. The paramilitary LARPing of LE ranging from ICE to some state & local cops is making citizens suspicious of anyone in a military uniform. Let's hope when the time comes for Army & ARNG personnel to choose the Constitution and the law over the illegal orders of violent fascists, each individual Soldier makes the right choice and the consequences be damned. I don't know what's going on in this declared "military zone" on the border but I wonder if some of them have had to choose already. It sounds like CA ARNG Soldiers might have to choose as soon as tonight. #military #DOD
