#LauraTingle is excoriating. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

‘As if they mattered’. What was branded as ‘the Coalition’ is revealed as small group of minor parties whose focus is only on dividing the spoils of power, & who have zero interest in policy or governance.

Media reporting of their machinations is easy work & easy clicks. It also distracts attention from the real issues - what actions the Albanese government can & should take to address the substantial challenges facing our economy, our society & our beloved planet. Namely: accelerating plunder, escalating inequality & climate catastrophe.

We need way more commentary like Laura’s. Please do better, ABC!

"While he distracts the public with sideshows of human suffering, the average American is getting robbed blind. Your healthcare? Slashed. Your retirement? On life support. Your emergency services? MIA. And while you’re trying to figure out how to rebuild after the next flood, fire, or economic collapse, he’ll be on Truth Social bragging about how many 'illegals' he deported that week."

"Southworth calls this 'narrative warfare,' and while it is true that Republican leaders have seeded a particular false narrative for decades now, this technique is also known as 'political technology' or 'virtual politics.' This system, pioneered in Russia under Russian president Vladimir Putin, is designed to get people to vote an authoritarian into office by creating a fake world of outrage."

Heather Cox Richardson writes today about how Trump and MAGA are working feverishly to turn Comey's snapshot of some rocks on the beach into a sinister plot — working feverishly to distract us from Trump's glarding failure in so many ways. She says,

"In his newsletter today, retired entrepreneur Bill Southworth tallied the times Trump has grabbed headlines to distract people from larger stories…"

@ccferrie : same here in NL (no mention in nos.nl/liveblog/2565256-tienta).

Instead, state-sponsored nos.nl/ again brought us propaganda.

The article marked red by me meanwhile fell to position 5 (see the screenshot at the left below). It refers to axios.com/2025/05/02/gaza-us-i, following up yesterday's timesofisrael.com/idf-planning.

IMO that "news" is being broadcast to make western leaders, other politicians and citizens believe that the genocide will stop if they keep sitting back and do NOTHING.

It's a disgusting hoax. Propaganda.

Israel's primary condition is that "Hamas" does not receive any aid (see theyeshivaworld.com/news/israe), which is impossible to achieve. Male members of Hamas are fathers, brothers and children of starving Gazans.

The IDF know that this is an impossible objective, which is why they said that THEY refuse to be responsible for distributing aid in Gaza (btw it's not just food that Gazans need). From the link I mentioned last:

“IDF soldiers will not distribute humanitarian aid and we will not starve Gaza.”

So apparently Israel now wants orbisops.com mercenaries to "take care" of the "protection" of food distribution in Gaza.

According to thecradle.co/articles-id/27879, Orbis was already competing for such a contract last year.

We shouldn't be buying these lies anymore.

I am quite content for the law to be updated, although manslaugtet or even murder charges can be brought surely. However this is a distraction pandering to the car mad.

theguardian.com/news/2025/apr/

Cyclists involvement - close to zero. Car involvement in reckless inhuries or deaths inn the year ending June 2024:
24% were #pedestrians
5% were #cyclists

gov.uk/government/statistics/r

Yet drivers get away with suspended sentences or points for killing.

The Guardian · Cyclists who kill pedestrians could be jailed for life under new law in England and WalesBy Caolán Magee

More evidence that the #Libs’ strategy is not about policies but about pictures, sountbites & vibes. We should be used to this by now.

They do this because it works. Same as circus Donald: it’s not about economics or governance, it’s about #distraction as cover for accelerating #plunder in times of crisis. 🎪🎡🤡 #AusPol

“Trump’s habit of deflection might explain last night's statement, and his habit of distraction might explain today’s social media post, in which the president returned to an exchange of words between him and Maine governor Janet Mills, a Democrat, more than three weeks ago…”
