Emily<p>Finally got a Hakko FR301; Japanese version that I am going to convert to the US version cheaply. VERY excited to use this.</p><p><a href="https://hackaday.social/tags/Soldering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Soldering</span></a> <a href="https://hackaday.social/tags/Desoldering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Desoldering</span></a> <a href="https://hackaday.social/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a> <a href="https://hackaday.social/tags/Maker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Maker</span></a> <a href="https://hackaday.social/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> <a href="https://hackaday.social/tags/tools" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tools</span></a></p>
Koen Martens<p>In case anyone was wondering, went with the Hakko FR-301 for <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/desoldering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>desoldering</span></a> - not prohibitively expensive, portable. Here it is next to the <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/TRS80" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TRS80</span></a> model 1 mainboard, ready to be tested. I'm gonna have to wait for the replacement video chips I just ordered on ebay before I get to try it out. Let's hope I'll be getting actual genuine 2102 SRAM chips. Ordered from <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/Poland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Poland</span></a>, not <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/China" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>China</span></a>, so fingers crossed.</p><p><a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/RetroComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RetroComputing</span></a> <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/Tandy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Tandy</span></a> <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/Electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Electronics</span></a> <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/RetroRepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RetroRepair</span></a></p>
Koen Martens<p>In the market for a <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/desoldering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>desoldering</span></a> station (one that sucks). Looking at a very expensive Weller unit. Apparently it is "the first system with built-in<br>cyber-security to prevent<br>costly downtimes". Wait, what? A desoldering station that needs cyber-security??</p><p>Meh, I'll pass on that one. Note the kind of 'sucks' I was looking for.</p><p>Any recommendations for a good desoldering station for <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a> <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/repairs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>repairs</span></a> ?</p><p><a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/Electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Electronics</span></a> <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/Soldering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Soldering</span></a> <a href="https://chasmcity.net/tags/Repair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Repair</span></a></p>
