#Voting is the beginning, not the end.

Another way to frame it is: #Vote *and*...

What comes after the *and* depends on your circumstances. Here are some things, and this is a partial list. Before you do anything, evaluate where you're at and what you can reasonably expect yourself to do. It's not *all* on you or anyone else, so don't over-commit.

- Most people can make some choices about consumption. What you purchase and from where you purchase it. If you are struggling to make ends meet, this may be all you can do.

- Some people have time and good phone plans. If that's you, you can also call your #senators and your #congress critter (gender-neutral term).

- Some people have time and mobility. If that's you, you can show up. This can mean protesting, volunteering, etc.

- Some people have money. If that's you, you can support independent journalists, or #candidates running against #fascism, legal funds, community organizations, etc.

- Some people have skills, and time or money. If that's you, you can run for office, volunteer in your community, or get together with community members to address an unmet community need.

"If the underlying disclosure wasn't concerning enough, the targeted, physical intimidation & surveillance of my client is. If this is happening to Mr. Berulis, it is likely happening to others & brings our nation more in line w/ #authoritarian regimes than w/open & free democracies," wrote Bakaj, his atty, in a stmnt to NPR. "It is time for everyone–& #Congress in particular–to acknowledge the facts & stop our #democracy, freedom, & liberties from slipping away…."

It could also intimidate #whistleblowers who might speak up about unfair labor practices, & it could sow distrust in the #NLRB's independence, they said.

The new revelations about #DOGE's activities at the labor agency come from a #whistleblower in the IT department of the NLRB, who disclosed his concerns to #Congress & the US Office of Special Counsel [#OSC] in a detailed report that was then provided to #NPR.

But acc/to an official #whistleblower disclosure shared w/ #Congress & other federal overseers…, subsequent whistleblower interviews & records of internal comms, technical staff were alarmed about what #DOGE engineers did when granted access, particularly when staffers noticed a spike in #data LEAVING the agency. It's possible that the data included sensitive info on #unions, ongoing #legal cases & #CorporateSecrets — data that 4 #labor #law experts tell NPR should almost never leave the NLRB….

…More significantly, if the #Trump admin can defy court orders with impunity, & #Congress is unwilling to act, there is no reason for it to respect the constitutional rights of American citizens either. The Roberts Court will now have to decide whether to side with the #Constitution or with a #lawless president asserting the power to disappear people at will. This is not a power that any person, much less an American president, is meant to have.

If the #Trump admin doesn’t comply with the #law & provide the agreements made with the Salvadoran government, what will they do?

They can’t impeach with #Republicans controlling both chambers of #Congress.

Even if they then sue & win, Trump has shown he won’t abide by any court orders, not even orders from #SCOTUS.

There is no enforcing body willing or able to hold him accountable.
