Flipboard News Desk<p>Today is the 200th anniversary of the April 17, 1825, document issued by France’s King Charles X recognizing the independence of Haiti after a slave revolt in the colony. But it also imposed a 150 million gold francs debt on the new country as compensation for the economic cost of losing their enslaved labor force. Bill Gallagher Photography<p>Mushroom Colony</p><p>While out hiking in Yosemite heading up to Mirror Lake I spotted this Mushroom Colony off to the side of the trail.<br>I had to get down on my Belly so I could get low enough to capture this perspective.
