Random #clock sustainability question: we churn through a lot of very cheap AA powered wall clocks (which inevitably stop working and cannot be fixed within a year -- cheap plastic).

I have one (Russian) hand crank clock, but are there other wall clock options that don't require constant AA batteries and/or replacement? Opinions/thoughts?

REALLY do not like having disposable clocks.

(Update: duh, forgot I built an old fashioned digit clock from ancient parts some years back and it's sitting in the workshop, going to move that to my office and move the office clock to the kitchen, where el-cheapo Bezos clock died)

The former Glasgow Blind Asylum (now part of the Glasgow Royal Infirmary complex). Designed by William Landless in a mix of gothic and baronial styles, and built in 1878, it supposely has the only public clock in Europe with five separate faces.

Robert, our clock expert, is being kept very busy today, including with this pocket watch.

I found a kewl compact long-period clock for Minecraft redstone yesterday, but calculating the settings to get the period I wanted was a pain.

Context: I've been quite enjoying the puzzle aspect of Minecraft redstone when designing contraptions for a survival world I've been playing for the past ~1-ish years (I forget exact start date), and I wanted a cactus flower farm.

The clock above the main entrance of Charing Cross Mansions in Glasgow sculpted by W.B. Rhind. On either side of the clock are figures representing Spring (left) and Autumn (right), while above it are figures of Commerce and Industry. The clock face itself is surrounded by Zodiac signs, and below it the bearded face of Father Time emerges from the stone work. All in all, a rather beautiful clock filled with a lot of symbolism.
