@whencyclopedia I read her book, 'Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl,' by Harriet Jacobs. It's powerful, a first-hand account of an enslaved American who, though great suffering and hardship, found her own freedom. I read it with 'Letter to My Son,' by Ta-Nehisi #Coates. They helped me see #Black Americans, and America more clearly.

The Magellanic woodpecker (Campephilus magellanicus) is a species of large woodpecker found in southern Chile and southwestern Argentina; it is the southernmost example of the genus Campephilus, which includes the famous ivory-billed woodpecker. This species is mainly pure black, with a white wing patch and a grey, chisel-like beak. Males have a crimson head and crest.
