@whencyclopedia I read her book, 'Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl,' by Harriet Jacobs. It's powerful, a first-hand account of an enslaved American who, though great suffering and hardship, found her own freedom. I read it with 'Letter to My Son,' by Ta-Nehisi #Coates. They helped me see #Black Americans, and America more clearly.
