#introduction Hello! I am the editor in chief of #Solar Today. I also report on #physics, #engineering, and #appliedmath for Popular Mechanics. I'm a double graduate of the UW-Madison - I have a B.S. in #mechanicalengineering and have an M.S. in science and environmental #journalism from the Nelson Institute. In my free time, I am an avid reader of books and news, am into #dance and functional fitness, and participate in the local alternative #music scene.

I’m a first year grad student at #UW #Seattle in the #neuroscience PhD program. I’m still rotating but I am studying how sensorimotor circuits in #Drosophila compute - right now in a network model, soon in real flies 
. Undergrad was in #appliedmath but with a neuro focus. Brains are weird, invertebrates are cool, building models is (sometimes) fun
I grew up in #RhodeIsland. I play piano/keyboard and I’m trying to learn electric guitar. I enjoy all things ocean-related.

(Have worked on #emergence of correlation patterns and #causalinference and now getting into #explanaible #machinelearning for #publichealth / #mentalhealth.)

Hi all, I've been here about 24 hours, so I thought it was time for an #introduction post!
I'm Max--recently diagnosed with #ADHD, currently finishing up two MS degrees (#AppliedMath and #Engineering Mechanics), and trying to figure out what to do with myself!
I've spent most of my career in #teaching and #research so leaving academia for a new career is an exciting (and #scary) prospect!
Outside of my work, I love #swimming, abstract #painting, #cooking, and building #mechanicalkeyboards!
