Because a significant portion of the regime's fascist efforts to crush dissent revolves around their fact-free declaration that opposing a US-backed genocide in Gaza, being conducted by Israel, is actually antisemitism (and also a foreign policy matter that is beyond regulation due to presidential powers over foreign affairs), the ruling class establishment that supported that genocide even when it belonged to Biden, has a vested interest in presenting Jewish Americans as a unified bloc standing in opposition to anti-genocide protestors in support of Israel and the Zionist agenda. After all, the narrative that all of this monstrous bullshit is being done to protect Jewish people falls apart very quickly once you realize that vast numbers of American Jews are actively against all this fascist, genocidal bullshit; so that latter fact has to be kept from the American public, lest they become wise to the reality that this is all just a propaganda op to justify arms sales, genocide, and fascist repression of folks ideological opposed to the regime.

The reality however, is quite different from the picture you're allowed to see on television; Jewish Americans are actually massively overrepresented in the anti-genocide protest movement, and a vibrant, growing collage of Jewish left organizations are risking the personal safety of their members to vigorously oppose a fascist regime and say, quite directly, that not only are the regime's actions putting Jewish people in danger, they will not allow genocide, deportations, and fascist repression to be conducted "in their name."

For more about this hidden, but not secret story, let's turn to this deep dive by Shane Burley into the rise of Jewish left resistance in America to settler colonial occupation, genocide, and the fascist Trump regime's attempts to deport student protestors under the guise of combatting antisemitism:

Jewish Organizations Are Fighting Back Against Khalil Deportation

“This year, all over the U.S., Jews are holding emergency Passover Seders calling for the release of Mahmoud Khalil and an end to the criminalization of all those calling for an end to the Israeli government’s genocide of the Palestinian people,” JVP said as it announced the action. This seder is part of a long tradition of using Jewish rituals as a protest tactic, uniting the prophetic spiritual tradition of Judaism with the practical strategies of physical resistance and blockade. This action, offered with relatively short notice and promising to mobilize huge numbers of Jews and allies, is the result of the relationships that have been built across Jewish organizations as they try to confront the repression coming in Trump’s second term.

“We’re building a new coalition right now. Because not all of us have been in the same space together,” Lily Greenberg Call, a member of the New York City chapter of the Jewish anti-Occupation group IfNotNow, called into a megaphone on March 20. “But it is more important than ever now to reach for each other and unite for our communities and our neighbors who are under attack,” she told the thousand people who had flooded the streets of lower Manhattan, the historic home of the U.S. Jewish left. “People in this city have been abducted, separated from their families, thrown in detention camps, and threatened with deportation.”

Frankly, I don't really have a lot to add here because speaking for Jewish Americans who oppose fascism being conducted in their name really isn't my lane. Burley's extensive documentation of how Jewish resistance groups are banding together all across the country is however informative, and enlightening given a media environment where even critics of the Trump regime who still support genocidal Zionist objectives in Gaza are unprepared to report on that resistance. The obvious reality here is that no matter what the ADL says, a fascist regime stacked to the brim with antisemite nazis, doesn't give a flying fuck about combatting antisemitism, and fully intends to use the mere existence of Jewish people and antisemitism in our society, as the spear point for their transformation of America into an over fascist dictatorship - and that's a story, you just won't hear on the Six O'clock News.

Truthout · Jewish Organizations Are Fighting Back Against Khalil DeportationAs the Trump administration weaponizes accusations of antisemitism to justify repression, the Jewish left is rising up.

Trump hates universities. But sure, let them claim that this is about anti-semitism, even as their own conspiracy theories about the "deep state" are deeply anti-semitic.

The Guardian · Trump officials cut billions in Harvard funds after university defies demandsBy Guardian staff reporter

Harvard University says it will "not accept" 10 demands by the Trump administration, which are ostensibly to address antisemitism and include shuttering of DEI programs and restricting acceptance of international students who are "hostile to the American values and institutions." In an email to the university community, President Alan M. Garber said Harvard had been told it would need to comply if it would like to "maintain financial relationship with the federal government." If the people who were arrested here engaging in antisemitism, would that make a difference to you?

To me, it's clear that several of the people arrested *were* engage in antisemitism and that they should have had proper hearings at the university level or the legal level, and that the Trump administration should never have taken action without due process.

In other words the legal process does protect even Nazis, and the fact that Trump administration doesn't follow the rule of law doesn't absolve a Nazi of being a Nazi, nor does it justify the actions of the the Trump administration.

@georgetakei

I hate the part of these stories where we have to wait to see whether the attacker's motive was antisemitic, and if it was, what *sort* of antisemite he is, and then people who oppose the one kind of antisemitism argue with the people who oppose the other kind of antisemitism about which is worse, etc. #antisemitism

[cont’d] Quoting Noa Limona on Netanyahu’s gaslighting of the Israeli public:

#Israel's "poison machine" has expanded from domestic gaslighting to foreign policy distortion. #Netanyahu Jr's attack on #Macron exposes a calculated system that labels democratic leaders supporting Palestinian rights as "enemies" while embracing far-right populists worldwide. This propaganda mechanism has successfully conditioned even opposition voices to fear being labeled "leftist" (now synonymous with "traitor"). The result? A warped reality where human rights advocacy equals betrayal, empathy equals #antisemitism, and "peace" has become taboo. The antidote requires rejecting this entire toxic framework, not just its symptoms.

[…] Netanyahu Jr.'s statement was what the linguistic philosopher John Austin called a "speech act," not a statement that can be said to be true or false but an expression that constitutes an action in the world. In this case, the act constituted labeling Macron – a leader of a democratic country who expressed his recognition of a Palestinian state – as an enemy.

[…] The antidote to poison cannot be based on accepting the toxic machinery and only partially rejecting its symptoms. Our obligation is to oppose the entire propaganda apparatus that has dulled our senses, clouded our simple reasoning, and eroded the ethical criteria that should guide us.

If I remember correctly, the holocaust was caused by "prejudiced hatred of ANY Jew regardless of age, what they thought or did".

A specific word was assigned to such racism: ANTISEMITISM. It applies to *all* Jews, not a subset (Zionists) let alone one or more specific individuals.

Antisemitism lead to the murder of totally innocent vicims, including Anne Frank and my grandfather's Jewish family. My grandpa himself was locked up in Nazi labour camps during WWII (he fortunately survived).

If the definition of antisemitism now significantly DIFFERS from "prejudiced hatred of ANY Jew regardless of age, what they thought or did", then the word antisemitism has become a HOAX.

Worse, everyone abusing the word "antisemite" for anything else, like for people demanding equal human rights for everyone, is a holocaust denier - and therefore have become the worst kind of antisemites themselves.

For example:

From this place, from Auschwitz-Birkenau, this place which is proof of the desire to exterminate our people, I, the Prime Minister of Israel, the nation of the Jewish people, say to all countries of the world: the State of Israel will do all that it must in order to prevent another Holocaust.
[...]
The only thing that has truly changed is our ability and our determination to act to defend ourselves and prevent another Holocaust. This truth is a source of heavy and constant responsibility – to ensure by any means necessary the future and security of the State of Israel against those who seek our destruction.

ÜberAntisemite PM Benjamin Netanyahu, with the never ending desire to exterminate other people, speaking at Auschwitz-Birkenau, published 13.06.2013 (from gov.il/en/pages/speechbitan130).

Recently, yet another Hamas spokesperson compared the situation in Gaza to events during the Holocaust.
[...]
If we elect to label every event a "genocide," or equate every event with the Holocaust, then we detract from the real meaning of those words and reduce their ability to represent true horror.

Avner Shalev, a former IDF combattant, May 2008 in yadvashem.org/about/former-cha

Is the world small? Mr. Shalev now is the Deputy Chairman of auschwitz.org/en/museum/auschw and possibly the author of the Resolution at the bottom of auschwitz.org/en/museum/auschw, which includes:

Threatened in its existence, the State of Israel has the right to self-defense in accordance with international law and the principles of humanitarianism.

(Mr. Shalev doesn't care about holocaust victims - see, for example, infosec.exchange/@ErikvanStrat).

Timothy Snyder: Fomenting #Antisemitism: Not Combating It

"As the assault on American higher education continues, I’ve been asked to explain why I believe this policy is antisemitic.

The #tRump people claim to be fighting antisemitism, and the media often accept that framing. I believe, on the contrary, that these actions are antisemitic in intention and in execution. …"

"If one is interested in combating antisemitism, one has to preserve the concept, one has to preserve the word. If we allow it to become just a stick by which people, including antisemites, beat other people, if we allow it to become just one more bureaucratic tool that the government uses in order to deny people their rights or in order to destroy higher education, then it can't be used for the thing that it's meant to be used for…."

"If we allow the government to claim that it is fighting antisemitism when it is in fact fomenting antisemitism, then we lose the concept. We lose the word. We lose the ability to describe the phenomenon. Antisemitism is a very real phenomenon, one which unfortunately is getting worse all the time, not just the United States, but around the world."
