Today (December 3) in 1993, Duke Nukem II was released for DOS. It was a vast improvement over the original Duke game, and it would be three more years until Duke would go 3D. Duke II is one of my all-time favorite 2D platformers (maybe my top favorite one) -- it's a total blast of a game. You can play Duke Nukem II via DOSGames.com (DOSBox) here: https://www.dosgames.com/game/duke-nukem-2
One wild thing I didn't know about Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny is that they were both banned in Germany in the 90s after they were released. If you want to hear the full history of that, the @dosgameclub guys and I talk about it here: https://www.dosgameclub.com/wolfenstein3d
I was honored to be asked to be on @dosgameclub's podcast for their Wolfenstein 3D episode. It's one of my favorite games, of course, and the episode is now posted here!
