JWcph, Radicalized By Decency<p>Uh, OK... that was deceptively easy &amp; I'm not sure why it works 😂 thanks for the <a href="https://helvede.net/tags/Blender" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Blender</span></a> tip <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://pxlmo.com/hammerhandwkshp" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>hammerhandwkshp</span></a></span> 🙏 </p><p>This is just two circles, one for the thickness of the "rope" &amp; one as the ring path. The ends actually overlap but apparently do so perfectly &amp; it seems like I can fiddle with the dimensions by modifying the circles &amp; the "Screw" &amp; "Iterations" settings... </p><p>It's for 3D print so maybe I'll test that now 🤞</p><p><a href="https://helvede.net/@jwcph/113951905316744026" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">helvede.net/@jwcph/11395190531</span><span class="invisible">6744026</span></a> <a href="https://helvede.net/tags/3Dmodelling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3Dmodelling</span></a> <a href="https://helvede.net/tags/3Dprinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3Dprinting</span></a> <a href="https://helvede.net/tags/maker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>maker</span></a></p>

JWcph, Radicalized By Decency<p>I did it! - in no small part thanks to all your helpful tips and, not least, the emotional support 😁</p><p>Turned out that the solution I intuited, but couldn't get to work at first, was the one that worked out in the end: Placing a sketch on the B plane using the existing hole as an external geometry constraint for a new circle, then holing said circle through the A section 👍</p><p><a href="https://helvede.net/tags/FreeCAD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FreeCAD</span></a> <a href="https://helvede.net/tags/3Dmodelling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3Dmodelling</span></a> <a href="https://helvede.net/tags/maker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>maker</span></a></p>

Continued thread

Needed an intermediate tool to get to the VRML v2.0 that KiCad seems to like. Used FOSS tool Wings3D which I hadn't seen before. Awkward but some progress.

Placement needs to be jiggled a bit, and my materials application didn't really render as created. More to learn.

Apparently people do that in the fediverse..

So uhh hi I guess. I'm a tad shy and I'm just here to socialize.

Used to be right leaning and I think it's important that people are aware. Used to be bigoted and now proudly stand here. Disowned my own family after I realized I was indoctrinated with Islamic bullshit.
