ICYMI: 🏺 How did light shape religious experience in ancient Mesopotamian temples?

We investigated this by reconstructing and analysing lighting conditions in four common types of sacred architecture from the ancient Near East.

Using standardised 3D models, we simulated how natural light entered temple spaces.

One of the things I thought a #3dPrinter would be good for was printing a replacement piece for a marmot tent that I have. Turns out I also needed to figure out #3dModeling to generate the file.

About to make my fifth revision to the broken piece I have, but it seems like this might be the final revision for me, aka "Good Enough".

And now I"m considering setting up a #manyfold server as a model repository.

Ok, for those who don't know I am a super noob at CAD and 3D modeling. I have only just picked up trying it in the last couple months and have tried 4 different softwares to do it and am not good with any of them. Needless to say, this is the most complex project I've ever done like this. All that said, I am really happy with how far I've come so far. The design has definitely had to evolve from where it was in my head with the realistic limitations of my skills and the real world measurements of the parts I'm working with, but I'm still liking where it is ending up so far. Again there's still a long way to go but this is the first time I've had a semi-tangible look at what I'm trying to accomplish.
