That Frisian Girl-ish<p><span>Day 20 - A song that has many meanings to you<br><br>Sonata Arctica: Victoria's Secret<br><br>One out of Sonata Arctica's more classic time, this one speaks to practically any time for me there's been a solution to a problem staring me in the eye, and it needed just some courage to get it going. But particularly, this is for me, likely not intended, a song that describes coming out specifically as trans fem. There's the nice underwear reference, and the chorus:<br><br>"Dancing on the path and singing<br>Now you've got away<br>You can reach the goals that you have set<br>From now on, every day<br>There is no way you would go there now<br>Oh no, those days are past<br>Life is waiting for the one who loves to live<br>(And it is not a secret)"<br><br>Yes, society is making the life of trans people damn hard, ridicule us, demonize us. In fact, one way or another, seeks to kill us, and more than we like they succeed. On the other hand, the trans experience is almost universally one of incredible relief from a burden. For many of us, for all the difficulties, it's the first time in our lifes that we actually feel like we're dancing our way through life instead of pulling a millstone around our neck around. And for the vast majority, we won't go back to that.<br><br>Also, front man and singer Tony Kakko is such a positive, energetic stage presence, if you have the chance, go see him live. How often do we know, deep down, that this is even now a thing of the past, false comfort? This is a song about that feeling, when we observe the past pattern on the surface, while deeper currents are already running strongly into scary new territory.<br>No wonder, really: I'm nonbinary trans fem, I'm divorced, I'm childless against my wishes, I have waved good friends goodbye in the hopes of seeing them again and never did.
