Will #BigTech lobbying undermine human rights protection in the #AIAct?
As we enter the final negotiations for the #AIAct, EDRi, Access Now, @beuc and 115 civil society organisations are calling on EU lawmakers to close a dangerous loophole in the high-risk classification process of #AIAct.

The changes lobbied for by #BigTech would allow companies to decide if they think their AI systems are high-risk. Letting companies decide the risk classification of their AI systems undermines the human rights protection afforded by the legislation – companies have profit incentives to understate the risks their system poses.
The process to decide which AI systems are ‘high-risk’ must be clear, objective and without loopholes!
Civil society is urging EU lawmakers to reverse these changes and restore the Commission’s original language in Article 6.
The #AIAct must prioritise the rights of people over profits, and ensure that AI development and use is both accountable and transparent.
