Why don't we just attack the root of the problem and ban targeted advertising - which only benefits those opaque ad brokers?

Is it because right-wing politicians talk about getting tough on big tech, but defend the business model like their life depends on it

The opaque process allowed them to get away with it with zero accountability

@why0hy Hear hear. Nonetheless, we have Republican members of Congress (like Mike Lee) calling for effective legislation. It’s not only a leftish thing I’d say

@alderik With respect, I’ve never heard a call for ineffective legislation.

@why0hy Well, the voluntary frameworks like the EU code of conduct/practice on disinformation, are to me clear examples of ineffective regulation (you’re right it’s not legislation)
