Residents or citizens of the European Union who love the European Union and with whom I would like to cooperate. Gradually building list:

Are you inhabitant or citizen of the European union? Do you love it? Would you like to cooperate above tooting, boosting and liking?
What is the Union for me:

@abolitionniste
Yes European Italian, and proud and relieved to live here what have you got in mind to do ?
@Pierrette , I believe that we, inhabitants and citizens of the European union should cooperate also directly on person-to-person basis. And across the 27 #StatesEU and across 24 #BabelEU. And more than tooting, boosting and liking. I believe such cooperation is benefitial by itself. And then we can have many goals. For me, the most urgent is
to find ways to express / demonstrate our will that the Union should support #Ukraine to win.
@abolitionniste @Pierrette @thegib
I think it is very important to help the Urkaine.
With regard to the EU, I also think that we should work on the individual states transferring more of their national competences to the EU for more EU and less nationalism.
For example, an EU army instead of many national armies would be desirable in these times.

Well, we do have European elections coming up for the lower chamber of the EU legislative. And in several countries also elections for the much more powerful upper chamber of the EU legislative, the Council of the EU. #WTFistheCouncil And way too many Europeans want to vote for right wing parties that are either openly hostile to Ukraine (AfD et al) or indirectly damaging by supporting the status quo and austerity (FDP, CDU, EPP in general).
@Gehtso @abolitionniste @Pierrette @thegib
So I'd focus on campaigning for the pro-Ukraine and pro-EU reform parties, even if they may not be your ideal, no.1 choice in national politics. For example, if you're left-wing/progressive pro-EU in Slovakia your best choice is NOT the S&D party, a bunch of corrupt putinist shitgoblins, but the RE party. If you're Czech, RE is a terrible choice, as is Fiala's "euroskeptic" ODS.
@Gehtso @abolitionniste @Pierrette @thegib
Another thing is awareness of #WTFistheCouncil and who runs the EU. Podcast or tiktok about it if you must (or find me a producer for my dream EU politics drama ).
Keating asks a question that's been haunting me for years: WHY would anyone vote for an EPP party if you're not a rich farmer/some other oligarch?
And the answer is: because Europeans don't know #WTFistheCouncil and that their national governments run the EU.
@Gehtso @abolitionniste @Pierrette @thegib
(That's a simplification, of course, to which I would add: in a lot of countries, the left often has nothing to offer and lives in a cloud of its own hot air when not openly toxic and a security risk due to its devotion to infantile geopolitics and urge to crawl on its belly in front of dictators.)
@elCelio @energiepirat @Gehtso @Pierrette @prefec2 @Veza85UE , for me it is important that we are all inhabitants or citizens of the European Union and that we do something together. Perhaps not all together but a group or groups or a pair or pairs...
For me, elections can be the thing we do. I am ignorant about it. We have this:
https://elections.europa.eu/en/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_European_Parliament_election
It seems to me, that the traditional classification of the political parties in the European Union doesn't work (for me?). I propose a new polarity where on my side are defenders of #ValuesEU and the other side are autocrats(?), oligarchs(?), populists(?), putinist(?)... I mentioned it already here:

I connect two Mastodon conversation about elections:

@elCelio @energiepirat @Gehtso @Pierrette @prefec2 @Veza85UE
@abolitionniste @elCelio @Gehtso @Pierrette @prefec2 @Veza85UE The main problem for me is, that we forgot to distinct between Authoritarian and Liberal. We see Right an Left only and forgot what Liberalism was about: Drive back autocrats, plutocrats, Authoritarian, Law&Order. People who do instrumentalize law&order for their own benefit by taking financial influence on politics. Left and Right are not able to cover those aspects.
@energiepirat @abolitionniste @elCelio @Gehtso @Pierrette @prefec2
This varies widely across EU countries, but for the purposes of the lower chamber of the EU legislative elections the spectrum still kind of works when talking to normies who are barely aware elections are even happening in 2024. As long as the EPP at
level have the good sense to not chase after a fash coalition (not a given).
It's who we send to the EUCO and the Council of the EU where it gets complicated.
@abolitionniste @elCelio @energiepirat @Gehtso @Pierrette @prefec2
Maybe, but it is what it is, we're 3 months away from European elections that aren't actually European because most of our governments don't want them to be, so I try to stay focused on talking to normies about why their vote matters for and
and hope they actually show up to the polls in June. I worked on 3-4 non-voters this weekend, I'm taking 1 to the polls and will be happy if another one joins.
